New Market - Gordon R. Harper, 86 of New Market died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday in Culver Hospital Emergency Room.  Mr. Harper had been employed 25 years at MidStates Steel & Wire retiring in 1968. He was a member of Smartsburg Christian Church, Alamo Masonic Lodge 144 and Indianapolis Valley Scotish Rite. He attended schools in Veedersburg. He was born May 7, 1906 at Veedersburg to Alvert and Effie Morgan Harper. He was married to Irene Smith March 20, 1928 at Sterling, Ind. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters; Tudie Runion of Lafayette and Trillie Caldwell and Kay Hallett both of Crawfordsville; a brother Ross of Veedersburg; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. Saturday.
